NZCAST is a survivor-led collective supporting people abused in state and faith-based care, providing safe spaces for healing, connection, and practical guidance.

With support from NZCAST, many survivors have been able to begin their healing journeys, overcome addiction, leave unsafe environments, reconnect with whānau, and move forward into healthier, more empowered chapters of their lives.

ADVOCACY

​We advocate for the rights of survivors who have experienced abuse in state care.Our team works tirelessly to drive systemic change, tackling the root causes of harm and ensuring survivors and their whānau are heard at a national level through a unified, collective voice.

WĀNANGA / WORKSHOPS

We empower survivors to reclaim their lives and shape their own stories.Through our holistic wānanga (educational workshops), NZCAST provides practical tools, knowledge, and culturally grounded support that strengthens wellbeing and builds meaningful community connections.

SUPPORT SERVICES

​​Our sessions equip survivors with the knowledge and tools to access counselling, claims assistance, and other essential services.By removing barriers to support, we help survivors and their whānau reclaim their wellbeing and build positive, thriving futures.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

There are significant gaps in support for adult survivors of abuse in state care, and NZCAST works to bridge them.
We’ve built a survivor-led peer network and provide one-to-one follow-up support, creating continuous pathways of care and a genuine sense of community for and with survivors.
